What is Medicare?

Medicare is health insurance for people:

  • Age 65 and older
  • Under 65 with certain disabilities
  • Any age with End-Stage Renal Disease


Parts of Original Medicare

Original Medicare consists of Part A and Part B.

Most Medicare beneficiaries pay a premium for Part B coverage.

  • Part A is hospital coverage
  • Part B is medical coverage

Optional Parts of Medicare

Medicare Part C and D are important options that can help pay some out-of-pocket costs not covered by Original Medicare.

  • Part C is also known as Medicare Advantage
  • Part D is prescription drug coverage
